Meghan Markle’s dad Thomas Markle said that his new son-in-law Prince Harry had urged him to offer President United States Donald Trump “an opportunity” in remarks most likely to cause pain for the royal family.
Thomas Markle informed ITV’s Good Morning Britain (GMB) that Harry had actually said “provide Donald Trump a chance,” including: “I sort of disagreed with that, but I still like Harry, that’s his politics, I had my politics.”
When asked by host Piers Morgan if he believed the prince was a Trump fan, he responded: “I would hope not, now.”
The comments will raise awkward concerns for Harry, who is anticipated to stay largely apolitical.
Markle also stated that throughout a “loose conversation” with Harry, the prince had actually said Brexit was “something we need to attempt” although “there was no genuine commitment to it”.
” I believe he was open to the experiment,” included Markle.
The 73-year-old stated his child had cried when he informed them he wouldn’t go to the wedding event due to heart surgery – amid a furore after he was found to have gotten payment for staged paparazzi photos.
Markle informed GMB that he had agreed to the photos in order to provide a better image, but “undoubtedly all that went to hell, and I feel bad about it.”
He wound up enjoying the wedding event from California, with Prince Charles taking his place and walking Meghan down the aisle.
” I was very upset that it wasn’t me,” he stated, but included, “I cannot consider a better replacement than somebody like Prince Charles.”
” The unfortunate thing for me now is I’m a footnote in one of the greatest moments in history instead of the daddy walking her down the aisle. That upsets me rather.”
He called his new son-in-law a “excellent” and “fascinating man”, and expects the couple to pursue children soon.
Remembering the minute when Harry asked him for the right to marry his child, Markle told the prince: “You are a gentleman, guarantee me you will never raise your hand versus my daughter and of course I will give you my approval.”
